Areas Of Interest

Wireless channel modeling, wireless mobile systems and architectures, multimedia communications and services in terrestrial wireless networks, and localization in wireless sensor networks.
Biographical Sketch
Paolo Barsocchi received "Laurea" degree and PhD from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 2003 and 2006, respectively. On April 2004 he joined the Institute of Information Science and Technologies (ISTI) an institute of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). In the period September-October 2008, he visited the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, Barcelona ES, as a visiting researcher.
Research Interests
Barsocchi's primary research interests are in the areas of radio channel signal processing, that is, when the radio network is a sensor. We investigate how a network may use radio measurements (RSS - Receive Signal Strength) to monitor itself, to locate the nodes in the network, to learn about physical environment in which it is deployed, and to improve network security.
